Medical Support Services

Establishing a System of Care

FSS provides a systems approach to healthcare, which offers a balance of preventative measures such as medical threat analysis, workforce education and training, fully supported by the utilisation of diversely trained and experienced Paramedic and Clinical Staff, working from small clinic facilities and comprehensively equipped ambulances and response cars.

The key to our approach is being able to effectively manage your workforce’s medical needs by exercising well developed patient assessment strategies and clinical decision making combined with reactive frontline paramedic support. This ensures those who can be managed safely on-site, receive timely and effective treatment, whilst concurrently providing the lifesaving link in the chain of survival for those that require emergency evacuation to receive secondary care. Our clients benefit from having fewer man hours tied up by preventable sickness, absence and unnecessary external consultations.

FSS Medical Support Plans

Conventional risk assessment and subsequent security or health and safety implementation are an inherent part of everyday working practice. However FSS understand that even with the best mitigation strategies and appropriate safety measures in place, some activities will continue to present a high risk. When this is the case the right systems of care must be established to support the activity and minimise the impact should the worst occur.

FSS offers a range of services designed to identify and mitigate medical risks to vocational populations.

FSS Medical Support Assets

FSS provides medical support worldwide, delivering care in remote and inhospitable environments including oil rigs, mining and construction sites in developing countries. When a serious but survivable injury occurs, early and effective treatment will make the difference between life and death. With appropriate FSS Medical Support Assets in place, rapid and progressive Basic Intermediate and Advanced Care can be provided from point of wounding, throughout evacuation, on to a definitive care facility.

Clinics

Whilst not actively engaged in Emergency Care our staff can be utilised within small Primary Care Clinics. The addition of a Clinic to large, remote or high population working environments creates the possibility of health monitoring, preventative measures, minor illness and injury management for your workforce. A healthy work force encourages productivity. Clinics work as a proactive measure to help reduce sickness absence and unnecessary out-patient referrals. In developing countries screening of the local workforce for communicable diseases is done on site.

The Platinum Ten

The first 10 minutes after injury are key in deciding the prognosis for any survivable injury. Workplace care providers will have to utilise their skills before professional help arrives. FSS can train your staff to respond appropriately by delivering the new UK HSE Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) syllabus to large numbers of your workforce. Key members of your team may have their skills enhanced by undergoing full HSE First Aid at Work training. This can then be expanded further with the introduction of intermediate care skills including; use of the life saving automatic defibrillator, oxygen therapy, administration of pain relieving Entonox and application of Haemostatic adjuncts. This training, coupled with the strategic placing of medical equipment means that when injury occurs, immediate trained help is only a colleague away.

The Golden Hour

Within 1 hour, A severely injured casualty must receive advanced care intervention at the point of wounding and in transit to definitive care in order to facilitate the best chance of recovery. FSS provide comprehensively equipped Emergency Ambulances staffed by a highly qualified crew, capable of managing both traumatic and medical emergencies. Our crew Clinical Leads are typically Paramedics who take responsibility for the management of a casualty at the scene by directing those already providing care and where appropriate making advanced interventions. Our Leads should be assisted by a Medical Technician who offers a range of interventions in his own right, but is also trained to provide support to the Lead whilst carrying out advanced or complicated procedures.

Staffing

FSS Medical Staff are drawn from a range of clinical disciplines, typically Paramedical Care, Nursing or Military Medicine. The defining aspect of our clinicians is the diversity of their practice. Regardless of specialty, each has extensive experience in Pre-Hospital Care, Primary Health Care, Preventative Medicine and definitive care environments.
